FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS.

Joe Morten & Son, Inc. began in 1936 in South Sioux City, Nebraska, when Joseph A. Morten identified a unique business opportunity helping truckers navigate the new motor carrier regulations recently enacted by both the federal government and the state of Nebraska. What began as a one-man operation rapidly expanded into a small company with multiple employees providing specialized insurance products unique to the trucking industry while demonstrating outstanding customer service to the hundreds of truck drivers & trucking companies they served.

The success of Joe Morten & Son, Inc. was so exceptional that it led to the formation of Great West Casualty Company a mere twenty years later. Great West Casualty Company was formed to manage the operations of an insurance company overseeing departments such as underwriting and claims, while Joe Morten & Son continued its mission of working directly with trucking companies, providing the insurance products and services they needed.

Today, Joe Morten & Son has a national presence, representing over 6,700 customers in 46 states. Alongside its corporate office, which remains in South Sioux City, Joe Morten & Son, Inc. has service locations in: Phoenix, Arizona, Littleton, Colorado; Nampa, Idaho, Willowbrook, Illinois; Urbandale, Iowa; Grand Island, Nebraska; Wilsonville, Oregon; Knoxville, Tennessee, and Arlington, Texas. We are Great West Casualty Company’s largest agency.

Joe Morten & Son, Inc. is affiliated with Great West Casualty Company, which is owned by the Old Republic International Corporation group of insurance companies. Old Republic International Corporation ranks among the nation’s 50 largest publicly held insurance organizations with a substantial interest in major segments of the industry.
