The trucking industry has a considerable presence in the U.S. labor force.

A 2014 report from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) found there are approximately 7 million people with trucking-related jobs. Nearly half of those—3.2 million—are employed as drivers.

The image of a typical truck driver is rapidly changing. The ATRI report stated that the average age of truck drivers is older than the average age in many other sectors of the U.S. workforce. As more current drivers reach retirement age and are leaving the workforce, it is creating an unprecedented shortage of drivers. Some analysts believe this number could reach 240,000 by 2022.

As an industry partner, Joe Morten & Son looks to provide its customers with information specifically for drivers as well as help educate the general public about the increasing need for more drivers.
