Our History

When the Interstate Commerce Commission was formed in 1936 to impose new transportation regulations, our company founder, Joseph A. Morten, started a business to help truckers obtain operating authority from the states.

His son, Joseph W. Morten, joined the business, and they sought to meet the other needs of his clients, such as insurance. In 1956, Joe Morten and Son was formed. From that moment on, a partnership with trucking professionals and a tradition of service was firmly established into our company culture.

Joe Morten and Son and their affiliate, Great West Casualty Company have established a reputation of unparalleled products and services through its innovative underwriting, claims, loss prevention, and subrogation departments. We specialize in truck insurance and work closely with customers to design customized coverages.
