FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO A NATIONAL COMMERCIAL TRUCKING INSURANCE AGENCY

Joe Morten & Son, Inc. started in 1936 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Joseph A. Morten saw a chance to help truckers understand new rules from the state and federal government. What began as a one-man business quickly grew into a small company. They offered insurance made for truckers and gave great customer service to many drivers and trucking companies.

Joe Morten & Son, Inc. did so well that, just twenty years later, it helped start Great West Casualty Company. Great West was created to handle insurance company operations, like underwriting and claims. Meanwhile, Joe Morten & Son kept focusing on working directly with trucking companies, offering the insurance products and services they needed.

Today, Joe Morten & Son has a national presence, representing over 9.000 customers in 46 states. Alongside its corporate office, which remains in South Sioux City, Joe Morten & Son, Inc. has service locations in: Phoenix, Arizona; Littleton, Colorado; Nampa, Idaho; Willowbrook, Illinois; Urbandale, Iowa; Grand Island, Nebraska; Wilsonville, Oregon; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Arlington, Texas. We are Great West Casualty Company’s largest agency.

Our single focus is providing transportation and trucking businesses like yours with some of the most extensive Commercial Truck insurance coverage options in the industry. From Commercial Auto Liability to Cargo insurance, Physical Damage coverage to Workers’ Compensation, we can help you protect everything from your truck to your entire trucking operation.

Commercial Auto Liability

Commercial Auto Liability insurance is at the heart of every commercial truck insurance policy. Sometimes it is referred to as Trucking Liability. It is the part of your truck insurance policy that responds when your truck is involved in an accident with another party. Auto Liability can safeguard your business by covering the cost of damage to other people’s vehicles and property, medical expenses related to the accident, and your legal defense if your company is sued.  LEARN MORE

Physical Damage Insurance

Physical Damage insurance is the part of your trucking insurance policy that covers your commercial truck and equipment when you have an accident. It pays to fix or replace the tractors, trailers, and equipment you own or lease that are damaged in a crash. It covers your truck 24/7.  LEARN MORE

Cargo Insurance

Cargo insurance, sometimes referred to as freight or inland marine insurance, provides financial protection for motor carriers that haul freight and commodities on behalf of their clients.

Cargo insurance provides coverage for damage to freight and cargo by fire and collision, as well as other perils you face while on the road, such as hitting, running over, or striking your load.

It activates when covered cargo is damaged or lost while you are transporting it under a bill of lading or shipping receipt. It also insures cargo when it is being loaded, transported, and unloaded, and while you’re at a terminal or dock waiting for the recipient to sign for it.  LEARN MORE

General Liability Insurance

A General Liability policy for a trucking business covers customer injury on your property, customer property damage at your business, advertising injury, products and completed operations, fire legal liability on rental property, and erroneous delivery of products coverage. Through Great West Casualty Company, Joe Morten & Son also offers options to add Garagekeepers coverage and Employee Benefits Liability coverage.  LEARN MORE

OWNERS. DRIVERS. WE’RE HERE FOR YOU.

Every commercial truck has a story behind it. For some drivers, it’s about the freedom of the open road. For motor carriers, it might be the hard work that turned one truck into a fleet. We know that every journey is different, and that’s why one-size-fits-all insurance doesn’t work. Our team takes time to learn about your business and helps you choose coverage, pricing options, training, and resources that fit your unique needs.

We Value Your Safety

Smart trucking companies know that a strong safety program can lower crash risks and cut costs. As a Joe Morten & Son customer, you can count on us to be your go-to resource for truck safety and loss prevention.

We’ll help you look at the risks you face on the job each day. With support from Great West Casualty Company, we’ve built tools and resources to help lower the number and impact of accidents.

Whether you’re a driver, an owner-operator, or a safety director, we offer safety tools to help reduce claims and losses—and save your business money.
